Change for Haiti
Change for Haiti

Located in the Caribbean basin and bordering the Dominican Republic, the small country of Haiti experienced a devastating disaster. Haiti, one of the poorest country's in the Americas, was already occupied by many homeless civilians, but when a 7.0 earthquake arrived, Haiti wasn't prepared. Now, in the aftermath, everything is destroyed, about 200,000 civilians are dead, and tens of thousands of people are left homeless without food. Along with ruining millions of homes, many landmark buildings were also destroyed, many of which were in Port au Prince, the capital of Haiti.

Sandpoint Charter School has decided to help the communities in Haiti by raising money. To raise this money we encourage our students to bring in any change they might have to help somebody in need; to help those who need it most. Once the money is raised we will send it to Haiti.

If you have any questions or want to donate change you can contact the Sandpoint Charter School office at 208-255-7771

Sandpoint Charter School Mission Statement
Sandpoint Charter School Mission Statement

The mission of Sandpoint Public Charter School, a public middle school, is to create a community of learners equipped with two kinds of literacy. First, the ability to read, write, speak and calculate with clarity and precision incorporating technology as appropriate. Secondly, the ability to participate passionately and responsibly in the life of their community.
To fulfill this mission we:
*Limit our community to 200 students.
*Provide each student with at least one positive adult mentor/advocate to support student success.
*Facilitate a positive and safe community culture by fostering accountability through high behavioral standards and academic success through integration and project-based learning.
*Focus on student-family-teacher relationships and encourage individuality within our community.
*Work in collaborative relationships within and outside of the school and serve the greater community.
*Actively encourage creativity and fun within our school.

Update on the Greener Mile Challenge 2033 miles so far

SCS is challenging its students and staff to find a greener way to commute to school this year with staff competing against student groups. After the first trimester the school has accumulated 2033 total miles of walking or biking to school. Janenne's advocacy is in first place with 304 miles traveled since October. They win a pizza party and dress down day. Peggy's advocacy in second place has traveled 269 miles, followed by the faculty group at 210 miles.

Participants earn points for each mile traveled by foot or pedal and top earners will receive a dress down day and pizza party at the end of each trimester.
